NBEC Solar Panels

Solar PV installation is a booming market. But quoting a PV system is a VERY time-consuming because there are so many variables. We were asked by NBEC Solar to help them quote PV systems in minutes, whilst still on site, so they could do the quote and sales pitch in one visit

The key requirements from NBEC were:

They have to be able to give the customer a quote on the first visit. So there would be an increased chance of getting a sale

The App needs to automatically calculate multiple prices based on the number of roof sides, PV type, type of inverter and number of batteries. Increasing the chance of a customer saying yes to at least one price

The software must also quote additional cost savings or income above that specified in the MCS guidelines. By also quoting other equipment that could further reduce energy usage

Finally, it needs to be useable by a salesperson who is not necessarily knowledgable about solar panels

Roof Calculations

To allow an unskilled person to quote, we needed to severely reduce the amount of roof measurements required.  So for a gable or hip roof the App only needs 4 measurements. Which can all be done from the ground.

We then do a mathematical check to make sure the PV mass does not increase the roof loading beyond safe limits.

The App then calculates how many PVs each roof side can support.  In both landscape and portrait orientation.  So that when quoting, they can offer the maximum number of PVs.  Increasing both the ROI for the customer and the job income.

Quote Calculations

So once we have all the data on the roof, we can move onto giving the customer various prices. Prices, not price, because in order to maximise the potential revenue you have to offer at least 3 prices and ideally more. Our App automatically calculates 63 prices together with 2 ROI figures (% and £) and the Break Even Point.

Having used the App for a couple of months now.  We've found that saves AT LEAST 2 hours per report compared to our previous report writing software.  We fully expect that the time taken to write reports will reduce further as we get more proficient
